Week 4, 5, & 6

Whoa where have I been? Hmmm well let's see my job sent me to San Diego for 2 weeks. Oh yes, how fun it was. Not really. I worked my tail off. Not to mention I ended up gaining a half a pound in two weeks. Set me back big time. Now I am scrambling trying to reach my Goal #1 by Week 9. Will I make it? Of course I will. I figured it out and I will have to lose 3 lbs a week for the next 3 weeks! Prior to this weeks weigh in I would have thought that to be a little bit extreme.

But I did it this week.

I lost 3 lbs.

So now that I've done it I must continue to do so.

I so need to make a video huh?

Week 3

Although it's not quite the end of Week 3 I just felt the need to post anyway. I won't weigh in till tomorrow but I'll just make an addendum to this post. Well this week was okay . . . just okay. I'm pretty darn exhausted, so glad it's Friday. Can't wait till next week when I go to Cali for two weeks. I've already contacted the hotel and asked if there was a gym on the premises. I'm not going to let this temporary assignment change my habits. They say it takes 21 days to form them and as of tomorrow it will be a total of 21 days. Can you believe it. I'm so proud of me. I made it a completely through 3 weeks. I'm so determined. Oh and I just found out how to calculate body fat. So it was really neat when I realized that I did so much more than just lose 2.8 lbs last week. But I actually lost 3.74 lbs of fat and gained .94 lbs of muscle! Isn't that awesome. It might be a mental thing but it just means so much more to me. Oh and I also stumbled across this website called Traineo. It's pretty neat, I'll have to add that to my website arsenal. Right now there's fitday, youtube, calorieking, traineo and of course the blogger. I have no reason not to lose this weight with all of the electronic accountability I have going on. Check out these buttons.

Aren't they just the cutest little things. Now that's what I call accountability.

So I'm turning in early tonight. I will have my Week 3 weigh in in the morning. I don't know why I am so nervous about it. I've done very well this week diet and exercise wise. I should have lost at least 2 lbs and will actually be surprised if I did not. But I guess only time will tell. I'm wondering what will my background music will be. I have a feeling it will be Alicia Keys because As I am has just been motivating me to know end at the gym, on the road, at work just period.

Okay I'm rambling now.

Till the mornin'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I gotta tell you what happened to me this morning. So I'm all excited to see my results from this week right. I mean I worked out, ate right it was a beautiful thing. I absolutely did not cheat and that alone was very rewarding. Well I get up this morning, hop on the scale and low and behold I had lost NOTHING! Still 183! Can you believe that. Yeah, neither did I. I wanted to cry, I did. But I told myself to cheer up and pushed myself through the workout anyway. Well I get home and decided to take a shower, clean up, and weigh myself. Well low and behold I had lost 1.8 lbs! I was ecstatic, I wanted to cry, I did. I know some of you would be like big deal 1.8 lbs but that's my weekly goal. 2 lbs. Last week was 2.8 so that gave me a cushion.
Now here's the video.
Till next week!
Week 2
So it's the end of Week 2 and it's been quite a success. There are still some things that I am struggling with like eating enough protein/calories and pretty much trying to find balance throughout it all but overall I'm happy to report another 2.8 lbs gone!
and yes I even started posting my weekly weigh-ins on youtube! It was fun editing that thing let me tell you. For my first little editing job I don't think it was too bad!
I avoided the scale this week because I wanted to I wanted to surprise myself. I would have been happy with 2 lbs because I believe that is a healthy weight-loss but I am very happy with 2.8!
This week I didn't take my freeday. Which is a day BFL allows individuals to pretty much eat whatever the heck they want. I hope that doesn't hurt me to bad throughout the week. It's just that I figure it is my free day, I should be free not to take it right? Although last week I did take it, BOY did I take it with an Applebees Blondie and an order of Chicken Wings, do you know that's about 3000 calories in and of itself. I only ate about half of the wings but I did eat that ENTIRE blondie. Yep sure did and I still don't feel guilty about it either. =) But for whatever reason I just decided not to take it there this week. I have had two almond joy trip shot coffee's this weekend so I guess I will use that as my freeday treat.
Week 1 retrospect
So as you noticed from the counter I have started Body for Life. I must say Week 1 was the toughest thus far and I really wished I would have taken the time to write during that period because it would have been helpful to know where I've been. I started off excited and blazed a trail through my first three days but it was that fourth day that was a trasitional period. You see with BFL you eat very clean and workout 6 times a week alternating anerobic and aerobic excercising. Well on the 4th day, the day after my lower body workout it was a cardio day and I wanted to do everything but! But I pushed myself, and I mean I really pushed myself to look past the soreness and into the future of how I envisioned my body to be and don't you know I got through it! It was on that 4th day that I knew that I had made a committment to see this thing all the way through to the end.
Pointers -
At the end of Week 1 I took the time to go to Sams Club and make a huge investment in food and I truly believe that was my saving grace. I was able to make little dinner/lunch meals for the week and it has made a world of difference. Not only am I making better food choices but I feel so much better eating 6 times a day.
I also started calorie counting. I know on BFL you are not suppose to, or they say you don't have to or whatever but I don't mind. I use fitday.com to log my meals and my activities and it's working so I am sticking with it.
Bottom line
By the end of Week 1 I went from 188.8 to 185.8
(amazing) =)
Day 10
It's day 10 Everyone!
It's day 10 Everybody!
It's day 10 Y'ALL!
I can't believe I made it! I made it. Oh my goodness, no one can tell me anything today! I made it to day 10! Praise Him. Through whom all blessings flow. I couldn't have made it without Him. He is awesome!
Okay so now the big decision. Do I continue? More on that train of thought later . . .
So I started off the morning with the tea, piece of cake. I went back to old faithful today and made the daily mix with lemons instead of limes. Hmmm I believe that I prefer limes. But that's just me. So I make the mix and hit the road.
A few months back I totaled my Honda Accord. Oh she was beautiful you guys. 1997 Special Edition Champagne . . . I miss her. Well, I don't know if anyone has ever had the privilege of having to shop for a car on a budget but it's the pits. I finally decided to pay someone else to do it. I hired a broker. (I know who does that right?) A car broker, I had never heard of such till about two weeks ago. Well today I can say that I am the proud owner of a 2003 Black EX Honda Accord. . . oh I am so happy that I hired someone else to do it. He was able to acquire the vehicle for just 9 thousand . . . that's a 15 thousand dollar car! What! God is awesome. Period!
Well on my way back from the brokers office nearly 4 hours from the time I had originally drank the tea, it went into affect. Oh no! I'm a long ways from home and I'm the girl who hates to use public restrooms. (Yes that's me!) So I stop at a local grocery store to use their restroom which happen to have a bottle of Clorox clean up in every stall! (Yes!) I don't think I have ever cleaned a toilet so fast in my life. They should have put me on payroll.
Now I'm asking myself, why am I having solid bm's on the 10th day? That's not right? Well I have a confession to make. As you may have noticed through previous posts I was not consistent with the SWF. C'mon it's the SWF that is the worst! I mean you have to be part masochist to do that thing everyday. I felt like I was truly one every time I filled that wretched Powerade Option bottle. Oh, I don't think I can ever look at one of those bottles the same ever again I tell ya and I use to love Powerade Option.
Which brings me to the question of should I continue on. Really you guys I began the cleanse for spiritual reasons and I have truly been fulfilled in that area. So I have decided to not continue the fast. I will say that the next time I do this fast I will be better prepared.
  • I will buy the lemons and limes in bulk!
  • I will also acquire the organic maple syrup online in advance. (So much cheaper than the local health food store.)
  • I will invest in a water dispenser! I was buying 2.5 gallons almost every other day!
  • I will force myself to be more consistent with the SWF and tea.
  • Oh and I will buy Cottonelle and Clorox Clean up wipes (for those days when I just can't get home on time!)
To those individuals who have chosen to use the cleanse for weight loss purposes I can say that I did weigh myself for the first time today. I had made a promise to myself that I would not do so until the last day. Surprisingly I had a total weight loss of 11 lbs. I must admit I was impressed but I tried not to become to attached to that number because I know that I will be gaining at least half of that back sometime in the near future.
Well that's all for today. Looking forward to tomorrow . . .
I can taste that orange juice now! MMmmm-mmmm good!
One more thing I want to give a quick shout out to Ms. Hawa K. Bond and everyone over there at the Yahoo Master Cleanse Group http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/mastercleanse/
For anyone interested in this fast they have, hands down, the best support group on the net. Period!
